Yes, I know, the world is flooded with Mario clones and remakes of remakes of remakes, but that doesn’t make this one less nice to play: Secret Maryo Chronicles.
From the website:
Secret Maryo Chronicles is an Open Source two-dimensional platform game with a style designed similar to classic sidescroller games. SMC uses the platform independent library SDL and the OpenGL accelerated Graphics Renderer for the best possible graphics quality.
One of the best features of this clone is the in-game level editor!
The game looks childish but judging from the trailer, the gameplay makes up for that. It’s not entirely sure what the license will be. I hope it’ll be free of course. It’s made by Tom Sennet and Matt Thorson (from the famous Jumper game series)
There are also some earlier versions of the game already available for download at WhereCouldTom.Be. The games seem to have been made with GameMaker. I will definately have to give that a try someday.
It’s not a very original post, but I too like the game Jumpman. It’s a pity it doesn’t run on Linux (incl. Wine) so this game will make up my coffeebreak fun for a while.
