Well, I give up, I can’t do it anymore, I’ll never be able to play and/or review the hundreds of games in my own repository and collection of links. So I’ll just mention them in a succession of lists and delete them, save a few. Here’s the first list:
A golden oldie; FreeCol, according to the website:
FreeCol is a turn-based strategy game based on the old game Colonization, and similar to Civilization. The objective of the game is to create an independent nation.
You start with only a few colonists defying the stormy seas in their search for new land. Will you guide them on the Colonization of a New World
Tubopac is a remake of Oils Well, a pac-man game with a twist; you have to ’snake’ your way around a maze. Is a somewhat older game, so do not expect too much from the graphics, but a lot from the game-play. If you like arcade games, this one’s for you.
Gondola is a resource management game with an original scenario; you have to move boxes containing different shapes in different collors to the right islands across the sea. It’s a very adorable little game and very easy to play. The game is pretty basic, I really hope some more time is spend to develop this game into a full blown game.
El Ocaso De Sara doesn’t look very promising but it doesn’t look very bad either. I’m very curious what will become of this project. The videos of the game (see website) show some nice, classic animated (cut)scenes which attract my interest. The rest of the video makes the game look like yet another quake engine mod. Hardly original.
There’s a new version of Wormux available and this download includes the two levels I built; Crystal and Green Hills. Hooray! I’ve finally left my mark on an open source game and I very much enjoyed making the levels. It’s quite easy, so I’m thinking of completing a third level I started with a while ago. Let’s see if that one also makes the installer.
Talking about levels, Secret Maryo Chronicles is also looking for some new graphics and judging by the current graphics, it’ probably not that hard to make some improvements there.
Yes, I know, the world is flooded with Mario clones and remakes of remakes of remakes, but that doesn’t make this one less nice to play: Secret Maryo Chronicles.
From the website:
Secret Maryo Chronicles is an Open Source two-dimensional platform game with a style designed similar to classic sidescroller games. SMC uses the platform independent library SDL and the OpenGL accelerated Graphics Renderer for the best possible graphics quality.
One of the best features of this clone is the in-game level editor!
